Justin Solomon
Justin Solomon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at MIT, where he leads the Geometric Data Processing Group and serves as a Principal Investigator at CSAIL. He is a leading figure in applied geometry, widely recognized for his theoretical and algorithmic advancements in bringing optimal transport theory (Wasserstein distances) into the practical toolkit of computational geometry and machine learning. His research addresses complex challenges in 3D shape analysis, ranging from medical imaging to autonomous driving and political redistricting. Prior to MIT, he worked at Pixar Animation Studios. He is the author of the standard scientific computing textbook 'Numerical Algorithms' (2015).
