About
Leonidas Guibas is the Paul Pigott Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at Stanford, one of the most widely cited researchers in computational geometry. His contributions span randomized algorithms for geometric problems, kinetic data structures (for tracking moving geometry), shape matching under deformation, and — increasingly — geometric deep learning. He co-developed the PointNet architecture (with Charles Qi and others), which established point clouds as a first-class representation for deep learning, and has been a foundational figure in bringing neural methods to 3D shape analysis.
