Martha Tsigkari is a Senior Partner and Head of the Applied Research + Development (ARD) group at Foster + Partners. With a unique background spanning architecture, engineering, and computer science, she leads the firm's state-of-the-art research covering complex geometry, human-computer interaction, machine learning, and robotics. Her team focuses on performance-driven design integration and optimization, utilizing deep neural networks, genetic algorithms, and distributed computing to solve challenges from passively actuated micromaterials to city-scale urban layouts. She is also an Associate Professor at the UCL Bartlett School of Architecture, where she has taught postgraduate students since 2009.
