About
Maria Garlock is the Daniel Tsui Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Director of the Program in Architecture and Engineering at Princeton University. She is also the Head of Forbes College. Her research focuses on resilient structural design for extreme loads (fires, earthquakes, storm surges) and the study of 'structural art' to find creativity and elegance in engineering. She co-authored 'Felix Candela: Engineer, Builder, Structural Artist' and studies the efficiency and form-finding principles of historic thin-shell concrete structures.
